This community surrounds Donner Lake and large alpine lake that offers so many outdoor water sports. Most homes have lake views of some sort and are walking distance to the lake.

The east end houses the Donner Memorial State Park and the Tahoe Donner property owners beach.

The west end houses the Truckee Donner Park and Rec West End Beach and the Donner Lake Properties owners beach and boat launch. The main public boat launch is towards the west end of the lake.
